The Life that Is in Christ

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it's easy to lose sight of what truly matters. Some of us are so distracted that we fail to remember the profound significance of the life we’ve been given through Jesus Christ. Amidst the noise and distractions of the world, it’s essential that we remember the incredible sacrifice Christ made for us all.

Every joyful and good encounter that we experience, God has made it all possible through Jesus Christ! As we ponder this, it's important to remember that existence boils down to just two states: life and death. As humans, we belong to one of these categories—either alive or deceased; there's no in-between. God's wish is for us to live fully. He's not just talking about some dull existence either; He's talking about a vibrant, everlasting relationship with Him.

John 3:16(NKJV) captures this beautifully: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Through Christ, God offers us the chance to live forever, free from the grasp of eternal death. He wants us to thrive in our relationship with Him, enjoying the richness of life to the fullest.

God’s love, shown through Jesus, is the reason we have the chance to truly live. Scripture tells us that in Christ, we find abundant life. He proclaims in John 10:10 (NIV), “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” This abundant life that God made available through His Precious Son, Jesus Christ, isn't about short-lived happiness or passing pleasures. It’s a deep and lasting fulfillment that comes from being God’s child, living for Him and through Christ every moment of each day.

In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to feel like we're constantly rushing forward without really knowing where we're headed. With so much noise and distraction around us, it's no wonder many people feel lost, lonely, and disconnected, unsure of who they are or what they want out of life. The pressure to succeed, coupled with the constant comparison fostered by social media, can leave us feeling inadequate and isolated. In this whirlwind of worldliness, individuals are struggling to find a sense of purpose and direction. They hear the Good News about salvation and think it’s too good to be true. We must remember that in John 10:10, our powerful Lord contrasts why he came to the earth and why satan, the thief, is in the earth. Jesus came to offer us life ever more, and the devil came to cause death, darkness and destruction. There is no in-between or middle ground in these two, and the belief that there is pulls the wool over our eyes and causes us to remain stuck in misery.

Our identity is anchored in Jesus Christ, and He is the life! He proclaimed in John 14:6(NLT), “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” He's not just a figure from the past; Christ is the embodiment of love and purpose, offering us a clear sense of who we are. In a world where it's easy to feel lost and without direction, Jesus reminds us that our worth isn't based on what we achieve or how we measure up to others. Instead, it comes from being deeply loved by our Heavenly Father and accepting His love by believing in the sacrifice He made through Christ and believing that He raised Christ from the dead.

Just as He raised Christ from the dead, when we accept His gift of salvation, He raises us from ashes of our worn-out lives and transfers us from death to life. Ephesians 2:5-6 (NLT) declares, “5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God's grace that you have been saved!) 6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.” In Christ, we are set free from the guilt and shame of our past and empowered to live victoriously through God’s grace.

This is transformation from the inside out. 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT) tells us, “17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” Through the work of the Holy Spirit, we are renewed and made new, no longer held captive by our old ways but transformed into the image of Christ. And here’s the extraordinary thing about this, God is the One who does the heavy lifting in all this. Through His grace and mercy, God takes our brokenness and reshapes it into something beautiful. He doesn't just patch up the old; He crafts a masterpiece, a new creation, in each of us. It's a process that requires our surrender and trust, allowing Him to mold us according to His perfect Will as we embrace the life that is in Christ.■
