Before Adam and Eve, the first couple, sinned against God in the Garden of Eden, they had no consciousness of guilt, sin, or condemnation. They were in utter bliss and only had knowledge of all things good. Our Heavenly Father had breathed the breath of life into them and made them holy. He equipped them with everything they needed to enjoy wonderful fellowship and communion with Him. They walked and talked with God daily and delighted in His company. They were complete in the holiness God gave them, and for thousands of years, those who love God are still astounded that they would give it all up.
God reveals His heart for humanity through Adam and Eve, first by creating earth as their habitation, and secondly by giving them His Word. The enormous gift of His Word establishes His love and His purpose for our individual lives. God is love and by giving us His Word, we can become intimately acquainted with His Will. His Word teaches us that His Will is for us to become one with Him and walk in His love continually. God never wanted us to suffer. He never wanted us to experience lack, sickness, or death. God’s Will is that we have intimate communion and fellowship with Him so that we can live a life that is pleasing to our Heavenly Father and fulfilling for us as well. But often, our will is not God’s Will. We go against His divine love and forget that He is our Maker and that everything that exists belongs to Him.
Ephesians 2:10(NLT) says, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” We are created beings, and God considers us His finest work. He tells us in 1Thessalonians 5:5 that we are His children of light, and we do not belong to darkness. Everything that God planned and predestined for us is good. When our hearts and minds are not fully persuaded in this, and we are not wholeheartedly trusting in God’s good plans for our lives, feelings and thoughts like sadness, insecurity, anger and other defeating mindsets can enter the picture. They lead us away from the faith and trust that God requires us to have in Him.
As God’s sons and daughters, we should always be growing in understanding and appreciation for the love and power that God demonstrated in the sacrifice and resurrection of His only begotten Son. Jesus Christ is the way of salvation for all of us. He did not die on the cross to save only those that believe themselves pious, religious, or without fault. Romans 3:23(NLT) says, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” We’re all in the same boat, and the work that God completed through the sacrifice and resurrection of Christ is for everyone. God doesn’t have favorites. He loves us all and His good plan is for anyone that will be guided and led by Him.
We’re living in perilous times, and the darkness is thick out there. It can feel as if everyone is conspiring against you. The loneliness and isolation can make us feel so small at times. It can seem as though no one is on our side, but God’s Word tells us that He is always on our side, and He is always with us. He gave His Son, Jesus Christ, as a sacrifice for our sins so that we would understand how much He loves us. He tells us in Jeremiah 29:11(NLT), “For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” You and I may not know all the thoughts of God, because they are so much higher than our thoughts, but through His infinite kindness and grace, He exposes us to the glorious reality of what He has planned. He holds our todays, tomorrows, and futures, and it is so comforting to know that the Creator of all that we survey has only good in store for us.
Romans 8:28-30 (NLT) tells us, “28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.”
Because of what God has accomplished for us through Jesus Christ, a way has been made for us to have victory in every aspect of our existences! Our Heavenly Father knew each of us long before we entered our mother’s wombs, and He chose us in advance for His divine plan and purpose. He chose us to be His very own, and He never makes a mistake. God’s good plan has made a way for us to participate in the power and love of Christ. This has nothing to do with the power of this worldly system of corruption and darkness. It’s the power and love of our Father’s Kingdom, where everything is overflowing with His glory and light! God’s good plan has united with Christ! He’s given us new life, so let’s celebrate God’s love! Through it, we’ve received the power to defeat darkness. We’re in partnership with God’s plan, and we will never turn our backs on Him. Instead, we will have victory over sin and triumph in life because of our faith.■
