Our Heavenly Father has all power in His hands, and He can do anything. We should remind ourselves of this knowledge daily so that we remain continually thankful and in awe of His amazing grace. There is unspeakable evil in our world today, and although we don’t like to take our minds there, things could be far more deadly and horrendous than even what we’ve hearing and seeing all over the news. Many of us go to bed at night and the thought of being awaken out of our sleep by gunshots or bombs is far from the existence we’re accustomed to. Our Heavenly Father keeps us, and we enjoy a covering and shield that allows us to move safely through life. Every second we’re alive proves that He is in control of our destinies, and it is critical that we stay on the path that He has set for our lives.
God has given us free-will, and we get to use it however we see fit. He doesn’t make us follow and obey His Word. He’s not forcing us to pray and honor Him, and He’s doesn’t make us love Him. He leaves it up to us to do the things that love and honor Him. However, we should know that God always wants what is best for us, and make no mistake, He is what is best for us. He tells us in Jeremiah 29:11(NLT), “For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” He knew us even before He formed us in our mother’s wombs, and there isn’t a thought that we’ve had during our entire existence that He has not known. He knows what we will think, do, and say ions before the thought is even formed in our minds.
Ephesians 1:3(NLT) says, “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.” Because of what God accomplished through Jesus Christ, we are blessed beyond what any of us could ever imagine. Our lives are packed with blessings and many have become entitled and arrogance towards the goodness of God. They rob God of the glory He is due and attribute their blessed existences to their own doing. The reality is that God has given us a rich destiny, and the path will lead us higher in Christ and closer to our Heavenly Father.
The wisdom of Proverbs tells us, “5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” Trusting in God is required to please Him. Hebrews 11:6 tells us this. God is the Leader, and we are the followers. Psalm 119:105(NLT) tells us that His Word “is a lamp to guide our feet and a light for our path.” God lights the way for us through His Word, and He guides us through His indwelling Holy Spirit. If we trust Him, we will take Him at His Word and allow Him to guide our every choice and decision.
All of us will come to a point in life where we feel loss, and we’re unsure about which direction to take or what to do to make things better. Life can be overwhelming. It can bombard us with one challenge after another, but God knows the path He wants us to take. He knew we would encounter the situations and circumstances that bring us both joy and trouble, and when we’re perplexed and bewildered, He has already provided a way out of our tangled webs. He said in Psalm 32:8(NLT), “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” Let Him do this. Don’t try to handle life on your own, because God never intended for us to go it alone. He has made us His children and desires us to know Him as our Father. Have faith that He will keep you all the days of your life. The Lord will show you which path He wants you to take if you will humble yourself before Him and seek Him with your whole heart. ■
