Boldly and Confidently into God’s Presence

God has blessed us beyond what any of us can imagine, and the best is yet to come! Because of what our powerful Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, accomplished through his sacrifice and resurrection, we have an inheritance in the Kingdom of God. This is Good News indeed! We have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places because of our union with Christ, and this is part of the unsearchable riches of Christ that the Apostle Paul teaches about in Ephesians 3:8. If you and I lived ten thousand lifetimes, we would not exhaust the blessings of God. He sent Jesus Christ to earth to accomplish His plan and purpose, and Ephesians 3:12(NLT) tells us, “Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.”

This is the Creator of the entire universe we’re talking about! To think that He wants to be with us in this way is beyond incredible! Our Heavenly Father is the One True Living God who has all power, is everywhere present, and has all knowledge and wisdom. No one and nothing can compare to Him. 1John 4:8 tells us that God is love. From this, you and I can have no doubt that we are created from His love. Through His Word, God has revealed His nature and the good things that He does. Therefore, He has shown us through Christ how His love behaves, and He expects that we will learn from Him and love the way He does.

John 3:16(NLT) says, “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” Our Heavenly Father could have sat back and done nothing. He is God all by Himself, and it isn’t possible for anyone or anything to add to Him or make Him more than what He already is. However, He has revealed to us in John 3:16 that love doesn’t restrict or hoard. God’s love must be shared so that it can expand and increase. This is love’s nature. God wanted a family. He is a God of love, and love must have a target, and we are it! We are the targets of His affection. He loved us so much that He gave the life of His most precious treasure, Jesus Christ, in order to save us and give us eternal life. This is a wonderful truth to comprehend.

This truth has heft, because the gift of Christ is beyond what anyone could have ever asked or imagined. God’s Word teaches us that when a person receives a lot, they are also responsible for a lot. So, the truth of our reality in Christ comes with responsibility. By this, you and I can comprehend that God wants His children to be responsible and accountable, and this is very important to Him. We can see this all the way back to the very beginning. Even before Eve arrived on the scene, Genesis 2:15 tells us that God took Adam and put him in the Garden of Eden. He then gave Adam the responsibility for the upkeep of the garden. Adam wasn’t supposed to mosey through his existence twiddling his thumbs. He had serious work to do, and this work was to manage God’s creation.

Adam labored and fellowshipped with God, and from this example, we can see what’s important to the Father. He didn’t design life to be complicated and filled with burdens. We are to keep ourselves busy with meaningful work and walk with God. We are to delight in Him, and when we do, Psalm 37:4 tells us that He will give us the desires of our hearts. Delighting in God conveys boldness. Not in the sense of speaking loudly or behaving obnoxiously. That’s not the kind of boldness God’s Word is conveying. To approach God’s throne with boldness means to have an openness with Him. It is to be fully transparent, authentic, and genuine in our hearts.

Jesus Christ said in John 16:9(NLT) that “The world’s sin is that it refuses to believe in me.” Not trusting God through His Son, Jesus Christ, is an offense to our Heavenly Father. This greatly displeases Him. Jesus Christ stands at the door of our hearts knocking, but most will not let him in. Too many of us refuse to walk in the glorious light of Christ. We will not be happy, content and joyous in the moment. Instead, we concentrate on the past or worry about what is going to happen in the future. God is the One who holds our tomorrow. He tells us that rejoicing in Him and all that He has done for us in Christ is the source of our strength. This is how we must approach Him, and this is what He deserves. We should come to Him in prayer with confidence and boldness, with a heart that is primed with the honor, reverence, and gratitude He so richly deserves.

Jesus Christ said in John 14:6(NLT), “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” Jesus Christ has shown us the way to the Father’s heart through the example of how he lived when he walked the earth. He wasn’t worried or anxious. He depended on Heavenly Father for everything, and he prayed and communicated with God constantly. Jesus Christ showed us how to walk with God and how to share the Father’s love with others. Because Jesus Christ made the Holy Spirit available to us, we have help to live just as he did.

He wasn’t high up on a pedestal where he would be untouchable. This is the Savior of the world we’re talking about. He is King of kings and Lord of Lords, yet he lowered himself to come to earth. He left the Father’s throne to save us from eternal death. Hebrews 4:15-16(NLT) states, “This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” Jesus Christ demonstrated the Father’s heart to be close to us, to help us in our time of need, and to have an intimate relationship with each of us. We need to walk with God just as Jesus did and know that He will hear our prayers because He’s given us access to boldly and confidently come into His presence. ■
